Martin had a way with the horses where they very much understood what he wanted, in return he taught each of us to teach our horses what we wanted by spending time with each of us, kinda like a private lesson. “For me and my horse, Martin Black’s clinic was a superb learning experience. Martin breaks each exercise down to ensure that the basic elements of the movement are mastered. He emphasizes using weight shifts to prepare the horse for stops, backups, pivoting and turns. As the clinic progressed I found my horse getting lighter and lighter -– almost magically. When we advanced to working with rope and moving cattle, this preparation really paid off. Martin is patient, thorough and will take the time to work through individual problems.
